Famous Featherstone Rovers are set to grace the Cheltenham Rugby Festival on Saturday April 24 at the Prince of Wales Stadium.

Known throughout the rugby world as " Fev " the club has been feared and respected throughout its history.

Featherstone Rovers are the heartbeat of a proud mining town and have graced the twin towers of Wembley Stadium in 5 Challenge Cup Finals - winning the trophy in 1967,1973 and 1983.

The club is presently one of the leading teams in the Summer Co-op Championship and is building towards securing a Super League franchise and a return to the sport’s top table.

Rovers will take their place in the 9s event at Cheltenham and will seek to wrestle the All Golds Cup from the current holders the Royal Navy.

Featherstone are coached by former Great Britain star Daryl Powell who expresses the club's delight at Rovers' inaugural appearance at Cheltenham:

" We had no hesitation in accepting the invitation to the Cheltenham Festival.

Cheltenham is well known as being the Festivals capital of the country and we intend to play our part to the full in enhancing the image and profile of the booming Rugby event.

We shall be sending a strong team in an endeavour to lift the All Golds Cup."

Festival Director Lionel Hurst is naturally thrilled with the inclusion of Fev in the All Golds Cup:

" The Festival aim is a clear one and that is to attract the great names of world rugby to Regency Cheltenham.

Featherstone Rovers have a rich and proud history. Their appearance in the All Golds Cup will add greatly to that enviable heritage.

Our dealings with the club have been so friendly and professional and we look forward eagerly to welcoming the Rovers."
