Sheffield Eagles are the latest big name side that has agreed to take part in the All Golds Cup at the Floodlit Cheltenham Rugby Festival on Saturday April 24 at the Prince of Wales Stadium.

The Eagles who share the Bramall lane playing venue with Sheffield United secured a special place in the hearts' of sports lovers when  - in one of sport's biggest ever upsets - they overcame the mighty Wigan club in the 1998 Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium by 17 - 8.

Despite fierce competition from future England Rugby Union World Cup Star Jason Robinson, the Lance Todd Trophy winner (man-of-the-match) on that historic day was current Eagles Head Coach Mark Aston:

"The Cheltenham Festival is becoming ever more prominent in the Rugby League calendar and we are very pleased to be taking part.

Success at Cheltenham will be a great honour for the Sheffield club and we intend to send a high quality side to the Cotswolds."

Festival Director Neal Coupland added ‘the growth of the Cheltenham Festival since its inception in 2008 has been rapid and this has been given further recognition by the inclusion of another Co-operative Championship Club Sheffield Eagles.
